Volunteer In Nepal
Volunteering with IDV is challenging, fun, and rewarding! While you are with us in Nepal. you will work in partnership with communities, individual survivors and local organisations to help Nepal recover from the 2015 earthquakes.
At IDV, we believe that everyone has something to offer. So, even if you are not a skilled builder or teacher, we still want to hear from you! Our inclusiveness is just one of the qualities that makes IDV unique.
Because our project needs can evolve quickly we recommend not registering more than 12 weeks in advance if you have particular project preferences. However, if you are flexible and willing to adapt then you can register to volunteer for a start date anytime in 2016.
If you would like to volunteer then please follow these three steps:
Step 1: Do your research!
Please read all of the following information:
- Essential information – IDV Nepal Deployment
- Your government’s travel advice for Nepal
- The CDC’s Guide for People Travelling to Nepal
We know it is a lot of reading, but these documents will provide you with important information about what it is like to volunteer in Nepal, the risks you will face, and what will be expected of you as a member of the IDV team. This information will help you make the decision as to whether or not volunteering in Nepal is for you.
Step 2: Register!
After you've reviewed all of the documents listed above please register your details here. We’ll review your registration and be in touch within a week! We'll respond more quickly to volunteers that match our current priorities.
Step 3: Confirm your Placement
Once you have registered, a member of our team will provide you with further information about joining us. You will then work with that person to address any further questions you might have, confirm what dates are available for your placement, and provide the information we need to ensure that you will be able to make the greatest possible impact during your time with IDV.
Once we have all the information we need, our management team in Nepal will work to confirm your placement.
We will be here every step of the way to answer your questions, take you through the ins and outs of getting ready to volunteer with us, and address any concerns you might have.
Please read our FAQs but don’t ever hesitate to send an email to volunteer.np@IDVolunteers.org - the only stupid question is the one you did not ask!
