In the aftermath of the earthquakes hundreds of thousands of people were in need of emergency food assistance.
This was a particular problem in remote mountain areas where almost 70% of people struggle to eat enough to stay healthy.
In response we provided 6.4 tonnes of food assistance to families in the districts of Nuwakot and Sindhupalchok, and consider requests for further support on a case-by-case basis.
Food distributions are not a long-term solution to food insecurity but we’ll continue to providing immediate life-lines in urgent cases and as funding permits.
It costs under £8, or around $12, to purchase rice for families struggling to feed themselves after the earthquakes.
