International Team in Tacloban

IDV’s Operations and Logistics Managers, Dave Beecher and Dagmara Konieczny, arrived in Tacloban, on Monday 25th November.

IDV Operations Manager Dave gained a degree in Structural Engineering from Cork Institute of Technology in 2003. He has since worked extensively in Ireland, Australia and Canada on engineering projects that have included housing, road, bridge, tunnel, hydroelectric, and landfill construction.

Each project presented their own challenges but through clear communication with those around him, Dave was able to meet these challenges head-on.

Dave’s approach to construction is well suited to working around the world. He sums up his philosophy simply: "You’re not reinventing the wheel. There are a lot of people out there who have the knowledge, you just have to be prepared to listen and then put your own twist on it"

Dave has experience in working in two disaster zones and we are delighted to welcome him as our Operations Manager.

IDV Logistics Manager Dagmara holds a degree in Biology and Psychology. She worked as a Behavioural Interventionist for 4 years before returning to school and obtaining a diploma in Business management with a focus in Non Profit Management.

She has an extensive experience in project management and has previous experience as a disaster response volunteer.

Sustainable development and community centered practices are Dagmara's passion. After living out of a backpack for last six months Dagmara is eager to put her skills to good use.

We are delighted to welcome Dave & Dagmara to the IDV team and can’t think of any two individuals more capable of leading IDV’s response to typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

Dave and Dagmara arrived in Tacloban on Monday 25th of November. Their work on the frontline of this disaster will only be possible through your generosity.
