Helen Thompson Memorial Fund
28 year old teacher Helen Thompson was fundraising for IDV when she died tragically from a blood clot in December 2013.
In an extraordinary show of courage and selflessness, Helen’s family decided to continue her fundraising in support of our response to typhoon Haiyan.
To date, Helen’s friends and family have raised almost £50,000 in her memory, and this money became the Helen Thompson Memorial Fund.
Helen’s husband, James, also became a volunteer with IDV in the Philippines and has spent the last year leading projects and helping us decide how the funds should be spent. James spoke of Helen’s passing and his work keeping her memory alive saying, “She was my soul mate and my best friend and I miss her every day, but this fund will be her legacy.”
